By the age 13 he had begun training at The Theatre of Arts, all throughout elementary and high school, and he thus performed at The Hollywood Bowl, The Complex Theatre, and The Tiffany Theatre on Sunset Boulevard. He continued training at The Whole Theatre Company, performing improv at The Whitefire Theatre, and The Icehouse, in Pasadena. He also finished a two-year Meisner Conservatory Program at The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York, USA.

Efren Ramirez’s career in the beginning consisted mainly of guest appearances on TV shows such as “E.R.”, “American Dad”, “Judging Amy”, “The District”, “Mad TV” and “Scrubs”.
