Read more about Emma Roberts Biography

A daughter of Eric Roberts and a niece of Julia Roberts, Emma Roberts began her acting career at the age of nine by portraying the role of Kristina Jung, a daughter of Johnny Depp’s character, in the 2001 drama “Blow”. Her subsequent appearance in “Unfabulous” proved to be so popular that Emma received several Teen Choice, Young Artist and Kid’s Choice Awards nominations. In addition to the series that lasted for three seasons from 2004 ’til 2007, Columbia Records together with Nick Records released the official soundtrack for the series entitled “Unfabulous and More”, which was also Roberts’ debut album, and peaked at #46 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers, adding to Emma Roberts’ growing net worth.

Following the success of the Nickelodeon TV series, in 2006 Emma Roberts starred in Elizabeth Allen’s “Aquamarine” alongside Sara Paxton and singer Jojo. In 2007, Emma Roberts received a Young Artist Award for Best Supporting Young Actress in a Feature Film for her role in “Aquamarine”,  after which she appeared in several movies, switching to theatrical films, and later returning to television. Some of the movies Roberts has starred in include Garry Marshall’s “Valentine’s Day”, Joel Schumacher’s “Twelve”  alongside Chace Crawford, “We’re the Millers” in which she starred with Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis, and Wes Craven’s “Scream 4”. Emma also starred in the popular American TV series “American Horror Story”. The premiere of the 3rd season of the show, in which Roberts appeared as Madison Montgomery, reached the impressive number of 5.54 million viewers. During her career, Emma Roberts has been nominated for several awards, including Favorite Movie Star, Favorite TV Actress, Female Star Of Tomorrow and others.

In her personal life, Emma Roberts has previously dated actors Alex Pettifer, Dathan Kuppin and Chord Overstreet, before dating actor Evan Peters in 2012; they became engaged in 2013, and after a sometimes heated on-off relationship, that remains the situation as of late 2017.

Instead, she spends her salary on clothing such as sandals, shorts, fashionable dresses, designer shoes and luxurious jewelry. Emma’s sense of fashion earned her a place on the Teen Vogue’s Best Dressed List in June 2007, September 2008, December 2008 and February 2009.

A 23 year-old star with an impressive net worth, Emma Roberts is also something of a philanthropist, and has been doing charity work, with major contributions to the Children’s Cancer Research Fund. Emma Roberts raised $3.5 million for this charity when she hosted a star-studded charity sale.

  • She made being strange both beautiful and cool. She’s a trend setter without even trying. [About her acting idol, Winona Ryder]
  • (on accusations of nepotism) A lot of people think that and they talk about nepotism which I think is so ridiculous considering it’s obviously not true, because I’ve auditioned for so many things and never gotten the part. Also it’s like, you know, maybe someone can get you one part but they can’t really get you ten parts.
  • I want to do something in fashion that wouldn’t be cheesy. I wouldn’t do, like, Emma Roberts for Target.
  • I’ve Netflixed all of the Gwyneth Paltrow movies. I’m a huge fan of hers. She’s kind of my idol at the moment. I really like Kirsten Dunst. She did a lot of cool, fun teen movies, and she’s also done some serious roles. I like her style, and I think she seems pretty interesting — on actors that inspire her.
  • I think there are a lot of people out there who say the really low blow of “She’s just in the business because of her family”. I do it because I love to do it. There have been a lot of parts I’ve been up for that I haven’t gotten. I don’t get everything handed to me like some people think. I mean, people say, “Oh, do you feel like you’re living in Julia’s shadow?” I don’t at all, because I’m not trying to be her. I’m just being myself and doing what I want to do. I’m having a lot of fun, and I feel like I am making a name for myself, as well — on being treated differently for being related to Julia Roberts.
  • My most prized possession, though, is an autographed picture of Rupert Grint, who plays “Ron Weasley” in the “Harry Potter” films.
  • I was so young, I didn’t understand that I was working with one of the best actors, ever, until later [on working with Johnny Depp in Blow (2001)].

  • Was arrested in Canada for domestic violence against her boyfriend Evan Peters. He did not press any charges and Roberts was released after a few hours in jail. [July 2013].
  • Was in a relationship with Evan Peters from spring 2013 onwards, after meeting on the set of Adult World (2013). They became engaged on Christmas 2013, but ended the relationship on June 2014. They dated for a second time from August 2014 until May 2016.
  • Has a tattoo, the half Moon on her chest on the right side (below the armpits).
  • Favorite horror films are Halloween (1978) and The Ring (2002).
  • Was offered the role of Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad (2016), but turned it down to star in Scream Queens.
  • Engaged to American Horror Story (2011) co-star Evan Peters.
  • Finishing her 8th grade year at Archer School for girls, Brentwood, California. [January 2005]
  • Finishing her 7th grade year at the Archer School for Girls, Brentwood, California. [May 2004]
  • Has a phobia of flying.
  • Plays guitar like her Unfabulous (2004) character, “Addie Singer”.
  • Her first music video was for her song Dummy.
  • Named as Women of GQ.
  • Ex-boyfriend is Alex Pettyfer.
  • Ranked #78 on Maxim magazine’s Hot 100 Women of 2010 list.
  • Her parents separated when she was seven months old.
  • Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen are her fashion icons.
  • Is good friends of Aly Michalka, AJ Michalka, and Miranda Cosgrove.
  • She admires Drew Barrymore, Winona Ryder and Rachel McAdams as her inspirations.
  • She likes to collect purses and has a huge collection.
  • She loves to play volleyball and swim.
  • Cites Anne Hathaway as her role model.
  • Her favorite actor is Rupert Grint.
  • Is an Abercrombie model.
  • Good friends with actor Devon Werkheiser and Jamie Lynn Spears.
  • Her favorite books include “Elsewhere” by Gabrielle Zevin and the “A-List” novels.
  • Spokesperson for the second annual National “Drop Everything and Read” Day (or D.E.A.R. Day) on Thursday, April 12, 2007.
  • Cousin of Phinnaeus Moder (aka Phinnaeus Walter Moder, born November 2004), Hazel Moder (aka Hazel Patricia Moder, born November 2004), and Henry Daniel Moder (born June 2007).
  • One of Emma’s idols is singer/actress Joanna ‘JoJo’ Levesque, with whom she starred in Aquamarine (2006).
  • On her father Eric Roberts’s side, she has Irish, English, Scottish, German, Swedish, and Welsh, ancestry.
  • She and Caleigh Peters, who also debuted with a single on the Ice Princess (2005) soundtrack, both attended the Archer School for Girls in Los Angeles. Alex McKenna also attended the school.
  • Has a younger half-sister, Grace Nickels (born January 2001).
  • Step-daughter of Eliza Roberts.
  • Daughter of Eric Roberts and Kelly Cunningham.
  • Younger stepsister of Morgan Simons and Keaton Simons.
  • Niece of Lisa Roberts Gillan and Julia Roberts.
