Read more about Sofia Vergara Biography
Sofia Vergara’s father was a cattle rancher, and mother a homemaker. Sofia studied dentistry at university, but short of graduating, she couldn’t resist the many suggestions for her to become a model, and chose modeling and show business over her studies. Her first appearance was in a commercial for “Pepsi”, and from that time Vergara’s net worth began growing. In 1995 Sofia started working on the show called “Fuera de Serie”, which made her more popular and recognized, and she later appeared in “Entourage” and “A que no te Atreves”, adding further to her net worth.
In 2007 she began acting in the TV show called “Amas de Casa Desesperadas”, which was based on the American show “Desperate Housewives”, and in which she had an opportunity to work with Ruddy Rodriguez, Ana Maria Orozco, Marisol Romero, Lorena Meritano and others. Two years later Sofia was cast in one of the most famous television shows, entitled “Modern Family”, which became one of the main sources of Vergara’s net worth. While filming this sitcom, Sofia met such actors as Ed O’Neill, Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Ty Burrell and others. In July 2011, she filmed her first leading role in the Farrelly brothers‘ “The Three Stooges”, then appeared in “Vida con Toty”, her son Manolo’s YouTube web series.
In addition to her acting career, Sofia also has other activities. In 2011 she started working with “Cover Girl” magazine, and subsequently started her own clothing line, as well as working with “State Farm”, “Rooms To Go”, “Diet Pepsi” and others. “People” magazine has listed her in the ’50 Most Beautiful People”, plus she has received a Star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, which have all helped add to Sofia’s net worth.
Although her career as an actress is successful, her personal life was not that perfect: Vergara’s brother was murdered and Sofia was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, which she has overcome. Sofia married Joe Gonzalez in 1991, but their marriage did not last long as they divorced in 1993; they have a son. In 2015 she married Joe Manganiello, and the couple are based in Florida.

Quotes
- People shouldn’t stay married because of the kids. That’s torture for everyone.
- Los Angeles is crazy. The women all look the same now. That thing with the cheeks. Like Madonna. Who do they think they’re fooling? It doesn’t make them look young. You end up looking like a freak.
- [on her younger brother deported after being arrested]: To see somebody dying over 10 years, little by little, that’s the worst punishment. Now he’s like another person.
- [on her role in The Three Stooges (2012)]: I play a mean woman that tries to manipulate the Three Stooges into killing her husband so that she gets all the money.
- [on her current feelings about her breasts]: I’m grateful I have them, and honestly, they’ve helped me a lot in my career. And I’ve always felt sexy.
- [on her discomfort with her breasts at age 13]: I wanted surgery. I told my mom, “As soon as I’m older, please take these boobs away.” She said, “Sofia, shut up. When you’re 18, it will be different.” I was like “Why would I want these huge boobs?”. I’m a 34DD. It’s hard to dress. No matter what I wear, I look like a stripper.
- [on turning down the controversial role of Charlotte Bless in The Paperboy (2012)]: It was a fun role. I was so glad that I didn’t have to pee in anyone’s face, though. I was glad it was not me. For [Nicole Kidman], that’s nothing. For me, it would have been three weeks of stress. How am I going to pee in there?
- My father told me if I did anything artistic, I would look like a hooker. I told him, “With these huge boobs that I inherited from your mother, I already look like a hooker!”.
- If you see me without mascara, my eyelashes are completely blonde, I’m very, very fair-skinned.
- I’m a natural blonde. But when I started acting, I would go to auditions and they didn’t know where to put me because I was voluptuous and had the accent–but I had blonde hair. It was ignorance: they thought every Latin person looks like Salma Hayek.
