Her decision was to put the baby up for adoption, and he was adopted by Teresa and Rick Kaepernick and raised in their family with two other children. Being eight years old he started to play football. Later, he successfully joined baseball and basketball teams. He rejected several scholarships and kept on training until the University of Nevada offered him a place in the Nevada Wolf Pack football program.
