The youngest of three siblings, Darren grew up in the Henrico County, Virginia, where he attended the Hermitage High School, where he started to show his football skills, playing for the high school football team, but also showed his basketball skills, and the school honored him by placing him on the “Wall Of Fame”.

Darren then enrolled at the College of William and Mary, where he continued to play football, but changed position from quarterback to defensive back. To speak of his career in college, Darren showed considerable skills, winning several honors, including the Yankee Conference Defensive P.O.Y. in 1996, and also being twice named I-AA All-American in 1995 and 1996.

In 1997, Darren`s professional career began, as he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers as the 60th pick overall, and of course his net worth started to rise immediately. In his first season, he finished with 19 tackles and 2 interceptions, and helped his team reach the Super Bowl, however, they lost to the Denver Broncos. With each season, his performances improved, and in 2000 he earned his first Pro-Bowl appearance, which he later increased to five appearances in 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2009.
