Born in Orange County, California, Templeton fell in love with skateboarding when he was 13 years old. Together with his friend, Jason Lee who later became an actor, the two were amazed at the skateboarders in Huntington Beach, California and decided to learn the sport.

With his natural talent in skateboarding, in 1990 Templeton became a professional in the field assigned by New Deal Skateboards. While touring with the team, he also used his free time to visit exhibits, especially in Europe, and his love for art started to emerge.

Templeton tried to open his own company called “TV” and “Television” but failed to gain any success. In 1994, he once again tried to start his own company, and this time it turned into a success – Toy Machine Bloodsucking Company or simply Toy Machine, sells skating related products, such as skateboards, clothing, hardware and even videos. Templeton is the main artist of the company.

Aside from selling various items related to skateboarding, Templeton and the Toy Machine also sponsor teams and professional skateboarders like Leo Romero, Billy Marks, and Blake Carpenter. The success of his company has tremendously increased his net worth.

Templeton sites Tony Hawk, Tony Alva, and Heath Kirchart among others as his influences in skateboarding.
