Read more about Keith Morrison Biography

Keith started his career in 1966 after graduating from the University of Saskatchewan, becoming part of the Saskatoon StarPhoenix before moving into radio. He was an anchor and reporter for various local stations and would then transition to television. He continued working locally for a number of years, before joining “Canada AM” in 1973 as a newsreader. He also worked as a weekend anchor, producer, and reporter at CTV. He won several awards for his coverage of the Yom Kippur War and would later become a reporter at “CTV National News”. He was also a National Affairs Correspondent on the show until 1979.

In 1982, Morrison joined the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as a substitute anchor in “The Journal”. He stayed there for four years, also becoming the co-host of “Midday” during this period. In 1986, he moved to Los Angeles to work as a news anchor for KNBC-TV, then two years later, he moved to NBC News and would become a correspondent for the “Today Show” and “NBC Nightly News”. One of his most notable contributions during this time was covering the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, which led to documentaries and magazine segments. In 1992, he returned to Canada to become the co-anchor of “Canada AM”, during which time he also co-hosted the PBS show “The Editors”. However during the 1996 network shakeup, he was ousted. Regardless, his net worth was secure.

He returned to NBC in 1995 and would become a part of “Dateline”, making numerous contributions including covering 9/11, the far east tsunamis, African child soldiers, and many more. He also became known for various murder mystery stories that have made “Dateline” very popular. Thanks to his popularity, he would appear in an episode of “Seinfeld” as a newscaster, and also made an appearance in “Late Night with Seth Myers” as a parody of himself. He is also parodied on “Saturday Night Live” by Bill Hader: Hader has mentioned that his fear was getting in an elevator with Morrison since both “Dateline” and “Saturday Night Live” were filmed in the same building.

For his personal life, it is known that Keith married writer Suzanne Langford Perry in 1981. She was a Press Secretary to Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. He is the stepfather of actor and “Friends” star Matthew Perry. Aside from Matthew, the couple also later had four children and he also has a child from a previous marriage.
