Hailing from New York City, Steve attended John F. Kennedy High School, in Bellmore, New York, and after matriculation he enrolled at the State University of New York at Oswego. He graduated with a degree in communication and broadcasting in 1987, after which he started working in New York City as a radio and television commentator, analyst and host as well. Some of the stations and networks he worked on include MSG Network, WABC-AM, WFAN and WNBC-AM. This was highly beneficial for Steve, as he gained experience as well as establishing a solid base for his net worth, which enabled him to get a job at ESPN.

He started his career on ESPN in 1993, and since then has held numerous positions, steadily increasing his role on the network. He is often seen on SportsCenter, in particular being the host of the late night edition on Monday night during the NFL season, following the airing of Monday Night Football itself. He was also covering the regular season of NHL and the playoff games, from 1999 until 2002, when ESPN lost the rights for coverage, which also increased his wealth. To speak further of his accomplishments on ESPN, Steve has also worked as a fill-in play-by-play commentator for Wednesday Night Baseball.

Apart from ESPN and sportscasting, Steve has also been featured in several films, such as “Fever Pitch” (2005), as Reporter at Spring Training, then appeared as himself in the comedy “Parental Guidance” (2012), while his most recent film appearance was in the sports drama “Million Dollar Arm” (2014), as an ESPN Reporter. These appearances also contributed considerably to his net worth.
