To give some background information, he grew up in the Calliope Projects of New Orleans. While studying at Booker T. Washington High School & Warren Easton High School, he played basketball well enough to gain an athletic scholarship to the University of Houston, but subsequently transferred and graduated with a degree in business at Merritt College in Oakland, California. He opened a record store No Limit Records (when after the death of his grandfather he inherited $10,000) which later developed into the record label which added much to the overall size of Master P‘s net worth.

Master P rose to prominence as a member of the band TRU as well as a solo artist at the end of 1990‘s.
